The Millennium Stadium Cardiff is its world famous, first rate sporting grandstand. This welcomed the opening of the 2013 Rugby League World Cup and is a regular host to all kinds of sporting events. Brains Brewery, makers of Brains Beer the beer of Wales is in Cardiff. Cardiff is a popular centre for film and TV production with its vast range of architecture and landscapes in its environs. Dr Who is filmed here and devotees of the Doc and the Daleks and if you're lucky you might catch a glimpse of the Doc or the Tardis, if not be sure to visit the Dr Who Up Close Cardiff sci-if exhibition at the Red Dragon Centre, Cardiff Bay.

Travel info Cardiff:

International Airport is 13 miles out of the city via the Port Road. It is served by cities and airlines throughout Europe. By Land Cardiff is well serviced by road networks- it is 150 miles from London via the M4 with Bristol 44 miles outside Cardiff along this route. Eastbound on the M4 means Swansea is only 40 miles. Birmingham is 115 miles by the M5. By Rail- London Paddington trains only take 2 hours to get here, Birmingham less than two hours and from Swansea taking about 50 minutes.

Stag do ideas:

There are enough activities to do in and around Cardiff to satisfy the most ravenous adventure hungry in your stag party. A few miles north of the city is the Cwrt Celyn Farm in Pontrypridd where there are enough activities to keep everyone fully entertained and stimulated for a week. There are quad bikes on which you can explore the fields, woodlands and bumpy tracks at as fast a speed as you want to go.

The Gorge walking is equally as exciting while staying on two legs with walking tracks up, over and through rocks, rivers and waterfalls with wetsuits and safety gear provided. Or for target practice you can go laser clay pigeon shooting or the more skilful archery. The Margam Country Park is a super place to go if you ever pictured yourself as Tarzan, from here you can swing between trees and fly down zip wires and be king(s) of the jungle for the day.

History:

The city has a rich heritage and colourful and diverse range on influences and shaping factors to it. It was an ancient Celtic settlement- some hill forts and enclosures have been dated from this era. It was taken over with the Roman invasion of Britain and after the last of the Romans left the town entered a period not well documented but there were visits from the Vikings in the 9th century and they have even left their mark with some street names, Womanby Street being one of these. The town underwent big changes with the Norman invasion of the 11th century and through various other leaders until it became in the 19th century one of the world's biggest ports.

Food and Restaurants:

Cardiff will not leave your activity weary stags with a shortage of places to stimulate their taste buds and rejuvenate before another day's fun, or before a session in its swarming nightlife. ASK Restaurant is a fine spot in Mill Lane to eat the best prepared Italian dishes. Be it pasta or pizzas you prefer you are guaranteed to get it as you like it. The Bay side Brasserie on Mermaid Quay has a spectacular vista of the bay that is only matched by its beautifully prepared meals and pleasant service. Harry Ramsdens on Stuart Place on the bay is another fine place where the service is second to none and the food is guaranteed to satisfy the hunger for proper mouth-watering traditional fare. Whatever your budget or tastes there will be something in Cardiff to suit everyone.
