in County Kerry in the south-west of Ireland. The town is the 7th largest town in Ireland with a population of population including suburbs of 23,693 in the 2011 census. Tralee is located along the 3000ft Slieve Mish Mountains and the beautiful beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. The town is nearing 800 years old. Tralee retains much of its late 18th century character. The Blennerville Windmill stands out as the dominant landmark in Tralee Bay. There are remains of the Annagh Church which are located southwest of Tralee. The church dates from the 15th century, with little else known about the site.


Famous for:


Tralee has beautiful scenery from the wonderful sandy beaches along the Atlantic Ocean to the Slieve Mish Mountains. There are many beautiful walks to be enjoyed in Tralee. Tralee is probably most famous for hosting Rose of Tralee International Festival which has been held annually in August since 1959. It is an international competition which is celebrated all over the world in Irish communities. Ireland's National Folk Theatre is in Tralee; Siamsa T're offers traditional music and plays in Irish. There is a walk modelled after the Camino de Santiago walk of Northern Spain that allows people to follow in the footsteps of Saint Brendan the Navigator, the route is from Tralee to Dingle.

Tralee is served by National Primary and Secondary roads as well as local routes. The bypass connects four of the five national routes ' the N21, N22, N69 and N70 ' which terminate in Tralee.

Tralee is a very popular tourist destination in Ireland and there are plenty of bars, nightclubs and restaurants with a wide variety to fit all tastes. The following are just a few examples of bars and nightclubs in Tralee. The Blasket Bar and Restaurant is one of the most popular and modern bars in Tralee town. Horans Nightclub is the biggest nightclub in all of Kerry. It is also a very popular spot for students as it is the official venue for I.T Tralee. The Abbey Inn is open 7 days a week the music also varies, live bands or DJ, late bar.

Tralee is a very popular tourist destination and there are plenty of restaurants with a wide variety to fit all tastes. The following are just a few examples of restaurants in Tralee. Denny Lane Bistro is a popular spot with locals and visitors; Denny Lane occupies one of the fine period buildings in Tralee town front. Ristorante Uno offers Italian and Irish Cuisine Restaurant and Takeaway. Stonehouse Restaurant offers superb Italian & Mediterranean food. It is located at The Square in Tralee. Darcy's Restaurant is located in Barrack lane off the main street in Tralee, All their products are sourced locally.
