Navan, County Meath became world famous for its furniture industry and for Navan Carpets. Navan is located within a short distance of Dublin airport and has a direct route via the M50 and M3 motorway. Navan, County Meath, is highly accessible by regular bus service to and from Dublin with Bus Eireann running buses to/from Dublin every 15 minutes at peak times. Dublin Airport is only roughly 41 kilometres from Navan. Belfast Airport is only 150 kilometres from Navan in the heart of Meath.

Overview:


Navan is Ireland's floral town, located in the heart of the Boyne Valley, is a vibrant business, shopping and tourist destination with plenty to interest the modern visitor. Famed for its fine carpets, it is also the location of Tara Mines, Europe's largest lead and zinc mine. South-east of the town are the impressive remains of Althumney House, a 15th-century castle supposedly set on fire by its occupants after the defeat of King James at the Battle of the Boyne in 1690.


History:


Navan first established itself as a market town and because it is a natural meeting point for North-South traffic. The 4 principal estates in and around the town were owned by absentee landlords: the Duke of Bedford, the Earl of Essex,Lord Howth and Lord de Ros.
