Culture:


Ennis is a beacon of traditional culture and art where Festivals of Traditional Irish Music are held. If your stags are looking for some cultural indulgence there are plenty of places to visit, the town is full of medieval buildings and aye caching architecture. Start your cultural experience by visiting beautiful cathedrals and well-known Clare Museum. In museum you can check out the 'Riches of Clare' exhibition, telling 8000 year history of the county. Another cultural landmark the town is famous for is Ennis Friary; you really don't want to miss that. The town square features 'Great Liberator' monument on a very high column, built for Daniel O'Connell. Near Ennis courthouse there is another statue of a great man Eamon de Valera, who was parliamentary representative for Clare from 1917 to 1959. There are many modern sculptures around the town centre to see, you can get Sculpture Trail map from the local tourist office.

The town is attractive destination for stag parties for its plentiful activities, pubs, buzzing with traditional Irish music and festivals. One of them is Ennis Book Club Festival, held on the first weekend in every March. If you planning stag party on late May, you will hit 'Fleadh Nua' , the annual traditional music festival- the second largest in Ireland! Without a doubt the most famous town's landmark is Ennis Friary, founded in 13th century by king of Thomond - Donnchadh Cairbreach O'Brien.

Ennis is connected with all major towns and cities by bus and train. The main bus depot and train station is located on east side, close to M18, only one kilometre away from town centre, if you flying, takes just 15 minutes to reach town from Shannon Airport. There is no shortage of great accommodation there as well. Take your pick from many three and four star B&Bs and hotels, some of which have excellent spas. If you need top class place to stay than luxurious five star castle hotel with golf course, just few minutes away from town will tick all boxes.

There are many activities for stag party in Ennis town and all over county Clare. If you into extreme activities like paintball, archery, rock climbing, canoeing, abseiling, raft building, there are few adventure centres not too far from town. Are water sports your think? Then you'll be spoiled in Ennis. Just beside the town there is a scuba diving school where you bound to have a great experience, if want to try surfing, book surfing lessons at beautiful Fanore Beach or get some kayaking lessons at picturesque local rivers. Overview:


Ennis is the capital of County Clare, the town gets its name from Irish word 'Inis', meaning 'island'. It is located south of Galway and North West of Limerick. The Shannon Airport is also nearby - just 19 km from town. Ennis is a very old town, soaked with history wherever you look and is recognized as cultural centre, overall memorable location to visit, plenty of activities for great stag party to engage; lots of pubs, hotels, nightclubs, museum, medieval architecture.


History:


It is historic market town. Ennis history has strong ties with the O'Brien family who were kings of Thomond in 12th century. After leaving their seat of power in Limerick, they built a royal residence here. In 1240 they began construction of large church grounds which after completion was donated to followers of St. Francis. The town became religious centre and was attracting students of theology and merchants from Limerick. Up to this day you can see merchant stands in historical market location - town square.


Food/Restaurants:


There are tons of places for good meal in town. Town Hall Caf' is located near cathedral of saints Peter & Paul opened 10am-5pm & 6-9.30p. Rowan Tree Cafe/Bar is just around the corner of Ennis Friary, food is locally sourced and served from 11am-9pm. For Coffey and lunch the good place is Zest, in there you'll find deli, bakery, shop and caf'; meals just '5-10. Other great places are Food Heaven, Tutsi, Numero Uno Pizzeria, Cloister Restaurant, Seasons 52, Peppermill Restaurant, Yolo. "
