Culture:
Carrickmacross, is one of the last few market towns in Ireland. It was built around a Castle that was built by the Earl of Essex in 1630. St Patrick's Cemetery Donaghmoyne is the final resting place of Cathal Bui Mac Giolla and the Carrickmacross is home to the world famous Carrickmacross Lace. The area is also well known for the quality of it's fishing lakes. Famous for: Carrickmacross is world renowned for its lace, which is a tradition that started in the convent and went on to be worn by Queen Victoria and Princess Diana. Carrickmacross Lace continues to be hand-designed and made in the town to this very day and it can also be browsed and purchased at the gallery on Market Square.

Carrickmacross is a lively market town, situated centrally between Dundalk, Monaghan town, Cavan and Ardee. Carrickmacross was recently in receipt if a new bypass which has released the town from heavy traffic and has reduced the travelling time to Dublin Airport to around 60 minutes via the M1. The town has three secondary schools and three primary schools.
