Bristol Hen Party & Hen Do Weekend Activities

Bristol Hen Weekends
Unless you're actually from Bristol you may not realize how big & diverse a city it really is, with a population of around 450,000 people it's the...
largest city in England & the unofficial capital of the west country. Bristol is a top location for a Hen party as its nightlife if thriving & it's also Hen friendly which is not something to be taken lightly when organizing one. There's also an area along the quay side where there's a host of pubs within a few hundred yards that are perfect for a pub crawl. There has been a lot of re-development in Bristol recently with Cabot Circus being a perfect example. This half a billion pound development has transformed Bristol into a top UK shopping destination.
Culture:
Before getting heavily bombed during world war II Bristol was one of the top 3 cities in England, however it has since been taken over by Liverpool, Birmingham & Manchester. These days Bristol is famed as a cultural center for the arts, in particular it is the home of Trip-hop with artists like Massive Attack & Tricky hailing from Bristol. Street art is also a big part of the culture with many active graffiti artists plying their trade around town & none more famous that Banksy whose work is known all over the world. Travel Info: If coming from overseas Bristol airport is 7 miles from the city center. From the UK it's a 2 hour drive from central London or 2 and a half hours from Manchester. Bristol is also accessible by rail from anywhere in the UK. Once there its best to get around by foot as the city is compact & getting buses or taxis is only an extra expense & will take just as long as walking.
Hen Ideas:
While most Hen parties tend to revolve around having the craic in the pubs at night here's a few ideas of other activities to be tried during the day. Go Karting is a very popular group activity & really gets the competitive spirit going. An afternoon paintballing is another great idea & it gives you the chance to show your friends who's boss! For those who fancy something less strenuous then clay pigeon shooting could be ideal.
Nightlife:
The two largest & most popular clubs in the city are Oceana & Syndicate. For Hen parties Oceana seems to be the preferred venue. If you're looking for the top DJ's then the O2 academy is the place to go. Unfortunately due to the vast amount or re-development some of the smaller clubs have gone, there's still an underground club scene going on in Bristol & a good rave is never too far away. If pubs are more your thing then the only place to be is down by the harbour side where there are tons of bars & it's the perfect spot for a pub crawl. Also in this part of the world cider is the drink of choice so make sure you head to The Apple located on the Quayside for a true taste of the West Country.
Food & Restaurants:
There's plenty of restaurants around the city to suit any type of pallet but when you're on a Hen party the best thing is pub grub so here's a few places where you can get good food & a few drinks, The Alma tavern located in Clifton is a lovely traditional English pub serving top food, The Graze Bar & Chophouse located in the Old City is also excellent & The Gourmet Burger Kitchen located on Park Street serves the best burgers in town."
