There's a strong population of students in Brighton which helps give it its cool chilled out atmosphere, in fact it a matter of pride that the city be considered modern & cool. With an annual tourist influx of 8 million people it is one of the UK's top tourist destinations.
History & Culture:
Built in 1787 as a seaside residence for George, Prince of Wales the Brighton Pavilion is one of the great landmarks in Brighton, Built in a style which was very prevalent in India at the time it is a true wonder of architecture & the Chinese styled interiors are equally stunning. These days though Brighton is more than just a seaside retreat, its party central & is known to be the gay capital of the UK many bars & clubs catering to that orientation. There's a gay pride carnival held every August which is very popular & attracts thousands.
Travel Info:
Quite simply Brighton is located 1 hour from Central London with regular trains departing Victoria station, the closest airport is London Gatwick & a train from there will take 30 minutes. Once in Brighton everything is compacted & easily reached on foot so no need for busses or taxis but they are there for anybody who has had one too many!
Hen ideas:
While most Hen parties tend to revolve around having the craic in the pubs at night here's a few ideas of other activities to be tried during the day. Go Karting is a very popular group activity & really gets the competitive spirit going. An afternoon paintballing is another great idea & it gives you the chance to show your friends who's boss! For those who fancy something less strenuous then clay pigeon shooting could be ideal. Alternatively if the weather is good during the summer then there's nothing better than a few drinks on the beach watching people getting tanned!

There's an abundance of pubs in Brighton to cater for all tastes, whether you're looking for a pint of ale or a fancy cocktail you'll find a spot as there's over 300 pubs in Brighton. Some pubs which come highly recommended are, The Cricketers Pub on Black Lion St which is the city's oldest pub & very plush these days, Komedia Club on Gardener St is a great place where people go for a few drinks & see a comedian or band & if you're looking to have a good laugh go to the Regency Tavern on Russell Square.

With over 400 restaurants Brighton has more per head than anywhere bar London so whatever you want to eat you'll find it here. Some recommendations are, The Chilli Pickle on Jubilee St is a top place to get a curry which we all know is the best food to accompany a few drinks!, Brighton Temptation on Gardener St is another place that serves great comfort food like bangers & mash & if you're looking for something a bit more upmarket head to The Coal Shed on Boyces Street where you'll enjoy some superb cooking in minimal surroundings.
