Availability
Sessions run on Saturdays and Sundays from June and some weekdays are also available during school holidays. Please note that the some venues require booking requests be made several weeks in advance.
Participant Guidelines
Minimum age is 8 and maximum is 13. Those who are aged 14 or over are eligible for adult kayaking (see experience code LBCKC).
Weather
Kayaking will go ahead in most conditions. For your own safety, on rare flood conditions may lead to postponement - the venue will contact you if ever a session is postponed.
Duration
Sessions last for three hours including a toilet and refreshment break (soft drink or ice cream). To ensure a very prompt start, please make sure to arrive a few minutes in advance of your start time and allow yourself time at the centre afterwards to shower and change.
Numbers On Day
There is a student to tutor ratio of 8:1 and you will be in your very own kayak.
Spectators
Spectators are welcome and can hire boats in the main season to go out on the river. There safety remains their own responsibility at all times. Cover and toilet facilities are always available and a restaurant is located in the park overlooking the river.
Dress Code
You need swimwear, towel, pair of old trainers, tracksuit and long-sleeved top (they will get wet). A buoyancy aid and cagoule (waterproof top) each are provided on site. If you wear a pair of glasses, either remove or firmly secure them. Contact lenses may be worn if they are more comfortable.
Other Info
You WILL get wet! But there are hot shower facilities available, so please bring a change of clothes and a shower kit. The venue is a nationally approved by the BCU (British Canoe Union) training centre for children, licenced by the Adventure Activity Licensing Authority.
