Additional Information
Living during medieval times may have been grubby, brutal and plague-ridden, but they sure knew how to have fun. This experience begins with a riding assessment, an overview of the equipment and an introduction to the history of jousting. Then, take part in various activities, including neck reining and learning how to use a flag, lance and shield - practise with a lance on the formidable quintaine, a spinning target. After lunch, this unforgettable activity day continues by learning a choreographed fight sequence, including broad sword or quarterstaff fighting, before dressing in medieval costume and putting all these new-found skills into action during a tournament. This enjoyable day out will end with a certificate presentation.
Availability
Selected weekends dates at least once a month from April to October.
Participant Guidelines
The minimum age limit for this activity is 16 and our maximum weight limit is 20 stone. Novice riders are welcome to take part however you must have a reasonable level of fitness. Please advise that when booking you list any disabilities or if you are undergoing any medical treatment.
Weather
Jousting may be cancelled in extreme weather conditions. If you have any doubts please contact the venue.
Duration
The experience lasts for six and a half hours, however you're welcome to arrive 15 - 30 minutes in advance of your booked time to ensure you get started on time.
Numbers On Day
There will be a maximum of 20 people taking part.
Spectators
We do welcome any spectators. We do not allow dogs on the site with the exception of guide dogs.
Dress Code
Wear jodhpurs or comfortable trousers. You'll need riding boots or shoes with a small heel - trainers aren't allowed. We ask that you bring gloves and a riding hat if you have them; if not, they'll be provided. You might get a bit dirty (authentically medieval then!).
Other Info
Please note that lunch isn't included: we do allow you to bring your own or you're welcome to go to the local pub for lunch. A photographer is on site throughout the day (photo prices vary generally from '5 to '10).
